POLICE have released four men on bail after a Worthing man died in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 13).

The 27-year-old, who has not been named by police, was in a van which crashed into a tree just before 1am at the junction of Offington Avenue and Offington Drive, in Salvington.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Four other men were in the van – two 27-year-olds from Worthing, a 31-year-old from Worthing and a 32-year-old from Goring-by-Sea,” said police this morning (June 15).

“All four were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

“The 31-year-old has since been bailed until July 3 and the others until August 4 while investigations continue.

“All four survivors were treated at Worthing Hospital for cuts and bruising sustained in the crash.”

Anyone who saw what happened or who noticed the van, a red Vauxhall Movano, being driven shortly before the crash, was asked to come forward.

Police said they should email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting Operation Tolworth.
