OLDER people living on their own were brought together for festive fun in Fishersgate.

Adur East Lions’ Tea and Tinsel event saw 60 pensioners provided with food and entertainment at the Fishersgate Centre on Saturday, November 15.

Lion Susan Saunders explained: “They were provided with sandwiches, nibbles, sausage rolls and festive cupcakes made by members of the club.

“Entertainment was provided by the Shoreham Allstars and the Fishersgate Community Choir, who also led a festive sing-a-long.

“The afternoon was rounded off by a visit from Father Christmas, who gave all the guests a present.”

She said the event had been much appreciated, with one of the guests commenting: “We enjoyed the choir’s singing and the really splendid tea but for me, I think even more, was your kindness and care for each individual.”

The club is delighted to have a number of people to call on to help out at the many events held through the year, including Tea and Tinsel.

These volunteers have now been officially recognised as Friends of Lions, with a badge that acknowledges the role.

Susan said: “If you would like to find out more about the work they do and the fun they have, please visit the website www.adureastlions.org.uk or the Facebook page www.facebook.com/adureastlionsclub or ring 08458337356.”
