THIS weekend see’s the start of the very first Worthing WOW (World Of Words) festival.
The week-long festival aims to celebrate the joy of words through poetry, film, theatre and books, with 40 events taking place over 14 venues.
Pick up your Shoreham Herald today for a full list of the events – from June 15-22 – and a preview story.
We also reveal the winner in the festival’s search for a Mr Darcy.
With Jane Austen in mind, in this week’s Looking Back pull-out – free with the Herald – readers can discover details of the author’s time in the town and how it inspired her writings.
As one festival opens, two more end and we have picture specials to round off both the Adur Festival and the Steyning Festival, both of which have earned high praise.
Another picture special not to be missed is the Hollywood film crew at Shoreham Airport. Some stunning shots are in the paper, including those kindly supplied by readers.
Also in this week’s Herald readers can find out how people in our area marked D-Day and read a poem from one D-Day veteran on the letters’ page.
New this week is a column from East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton who talks about making the workings of Parliament more accessible.
There’s also a round-up of roadworks in the area as well as warning from police and the fire service on our essential information page.
This is as well as all the latest news, entertainment, letters, food reviews, community noticeboard, vet column, sport and more.
Pick up your Herald tomorrow, priced 80p, or from 60p if you subscribe.
