Year three pupils at St Nicolas and St Mary’s Primary School recorded their own poems to be aired on a hospital radio show.
Four children visited Seaview Radio at Southlands Hospital to make the recording of their poetry, which included sound poems, pattern poems and historical poems.
Teacher Joe MacAllister said: “The children love reading out loud and hold a weekly poetry competition in class.
“After being inspired by Sharon Creech’s book ‘Love That Dog’ these budding young bards composed their own poems in a variety of styles.
“Being keen writers, the next logical step was to bring these words to life by learning how to use expression, intonation and timing in their performance.
“It has been great to give the children a platform for their spectacular poems and they are really excited to share their words across the airwaves.”
