A DRIVER suffered a head injury when his car swerved off the A27 this morning.
The motorist was trapped inside the car and had to be freed by firefighters before being rushed to hospital by ambulance.
Fire engines from Shoreham and Hove were called to the scene, as well as a heavy-rescue unit from Worthing.
The black Vauxhall Vectra saloon left the eastbound carriageway of the Shoreham flyover, rolling over the crash barrier near the Holmbush turnoff at just before 7am.
Police closed one lane while the car was recovered, causing traffic delays.
The driver’s injury was not life threatening and no other vehicles were involved.
