Adur District Council today confirmed it would explore alternatives for Beach Green after preferred developer Brian Wilson, of Wilbo’s, ended his association with the scheme.

The news comes less than three months after Wilbo’s exhibited its latest plans.

The developer initially courted controversy when a concept was released showing redevelopment of the whole of Beach Green.

Councillor Brian Boggis, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “We have listened to feedback from our community and are now exploring alternative options to deliver a new seafront cafe/restaurant, along with new public conveniences, as promised on Beach Green.

“There remains a great opportunity for an imaginative scheme and we will ensure that beach residents are actively engaged in the process of delivering the right facility for the area.”

Future plans for the toilet block have attracted high interest from Shoreham Beach residents.

They packed a meeting of Shoreham Beach Residents’ Association to discuss the issue in February.
