A woman was arrested in Worthing on Wednesday night (January 6) following a large police response.

Officers were called to Brighton Road, Worthing, at around 9.15pm on Wednesday where they arrested a woman on suspicion of two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage, a police spokesman confirmed.

Police said the arrest came after officers on patrol in a marked police vehicle stopped to check on the welfare of a woman displaying concerning behaviour.

The officers did not suffer any injuries, according to police.

On Thursday morning (January 7), a spokesman for Sussex Police said: "The woman remains in custody at this time."
