Police are appealing for witnesses after a car collided with a tree off Old Shoreham Road in Portslade on Wednesday afternoon (November 16).

Emergency services were called to the scene near to the junction with Foredown Drive at around 2.45pm, a spokesperson for Sussex Police said.

There were two people in the green Vauxhall Corsa. The front seat passenger, an 18-year-old local woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, according to the spokesperson.

The driver, a 27-year-old man from Brighton, was not seriously injured but was taken to hospital as a precaution, confirmed the spokesperson.

Detective Constable Matt King said: “We do not believe there were any other vehicles involved and would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened before the car left the road.

“It’s a fairly busy street and it would have still been light outside.

“If you have any information at all, no matter how insignificant you may think it is, then please get in touch.”
