A 30-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to two charges of robbery relating to incidents in Worthing and Sompting earlier this year.

Building labourer Liam Newman appeared at Lewes Crown Court today charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of having a firearm/imitation firearm with intent.

He was charged in connection with two robberies in late September. The first incident was the robbery of Mr G’s Mini Market on Saturday, August 13 and the other incident occurred at Ladbrokes in Rowlands Road on Thursday, August 18, a spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed.

Mr Newman entered a plea of not guilty to all charges and will appear for trial at the same court on Monday, March 13.
