Man charged in connection with two Worthing robberies

A man has been charged in connection with two of the robberies in Worthing since August.

Liam Newman, 30, a building labourer of no fixed address has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent on August 13 at Seadown Parade in Sompting and on August 18 at Ladbrokes in Rowlands Road, Worthing.

He has also been charged with burglary to inflict GBH and burglary with violence, both on August 6 connected to an incident which is unrelated to the robbery series in which a man was assaulted in his home in St Elmo Road.

He has been remanded to Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 26.

Detective Inspector Pack said: “The firearms and robbery charges are in relation to two robberies from a recent series in Worthing being investigated by a dedicated team of detectives.

“The investigation in to the robberies is far from complete and my team will continue with a large number of further enquiries.

“The local policing team will continue to provide reassurance patrols in the Worthing area.
