AN Easter egg raffle proved so popular, a second prize had to be produced.

One of Adur East Lions Club’s giant eggs was placed at Mayberry Garden Centre in Portslade before the Easter weekend.

But such was its popularity, a second egg had to be added after the 100 tickets for the first ran out long before the Good Friday deadline.

Overall, more than £150 was raised for local good causes, which will add to the total raised by other Easter eggs ‘hidden’ by the Lions club.

President Gillian Anderson said: “Once again many thanks to Mayberry staff and customers for their ongoing support and in particular to the staff of the coffee shop, who work so hard on our behalf. We really appreciate it.”

The first of this year’s 12 giant Easter Eggs was won by Kathy Anderson at a Danceaholics event at the Shoreham Centre.

Another was won by P. Chatten at Fox’s greengrocers in Southwick Square, where customers generously put far more in the pot than the £1 needed to enter.
