Over 60 local organisations have been awarded grants totalling almost £300,000 from the Safer in Sussex Community Fund.

More than 90 applications were submitted for a share of the Fund, made available by the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner, Katy Bourne.

Local community groups, particularly those from the voluntary and community sector, were invited to submit bids for funding to support crime reduction and community safety initiatives. Applications had to demonstrate support for the priorities set out in Mrs Bourne’s Police & Crime Plan. These include tackling antisocial behaviour and addressing community priorities such as drug and alcohol harm, as well as reducing reoffending and the impact of domestic abuse and hate crime.

Tune in to this month’s vlog and join the successful bidders at a special ‘Celebration Showcase’ event, held at the Commissioner’s office in Lewes, and find out more about the local organisations and community groups who are committed to keeping Sussex safe.

The next closing date for applications for the Safer in Sussex Community Fund is 30th June 2014. For more information about the scheme and how to apply click here.
