Shoreham Coastguard assisted with the evacuation of a man who had fallen ill at sea.

The Coastguard helicopter was dispatched at about 2pm yesterday for the ‘medical evacuation’ of a man on a vessel 20 nautical miles south of Eastbourne, a spokesperson for the Coastguard said.

Once back on land he was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital by ambulance.

His condition is unknown.
