YOUNGSTERS of all ages and their parents dabbled with glue and colour to create five big collages when St Michael’s Church, Southwick, held a craft activity afternoon.
The collages depict the Easter story and will be hung from the central pillars in church, which is open every morning so passers-by can have a look.
After lunch the children decorated biscuits, masks and little boxes for Mothering Sunday and Easter.
They rounded up the afternoon outside in the lovely warm sunshine with ball games, obstacle team games, and toddlers chasing bubbles.
The church is also planning on holding workshops at harvest time and advent.
There will be Holy Communion on Palm Sunday, April 13, at 8am, followed by a procession of the palms with Albert the donkey from Southwick Green.
Then, on Good Friday, there will be a devotional address at St Mary de Haura in Shoreham, from 12pm to 1pm, led by Revd Peter Wells, chaplain of the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
Afterwards, there will be music and singing in St Michael’s at 1.30pm followed by the Liturgy of the Cross from 2pm to 3pm.
Easter Saturday at 8.30pm will see the Easter Liturgy, the lighting of the Easter Fire, renewal of baptismal vows and the first Eucharist of Easter.
Then on Easter Sunday at 10am there will be a Festival Eucharist, blessing of the Easter garden and an egg hunt.
