Officers investigating the death of a cat in Shoreham have come to the conclusion that it died ‘by unknown means’, according to Sussex Police.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “We have been aware of comments following an incident in Kingston Lane, Shoreham-by-Sea where a cat was reportedly killed on Sunday, 25 June.

“The incident was reported to us and following an investigation alongside the Shoreham Academy School we have come to the conclusion that the cat died by unknown means at this time.

“Children, thought to be from the Shoreham Academy, found the cat after it had died and moved it from the kerb side.

“We have spoken with the cat’s owner who is understandably upset and explained that following our investigation we are satisfied that no offence has occurred.”
