People in the Adur district will remember the tragic loss of life following two world wars and other conflicts on Sunday (November 13).
In Shoreham, people will assemble at the community centre on Pond Road at 9.30am before beginning a march along Western Road and Brunswick Road, ending at the Church of St Mary de Haura.
A remembrance service will be led by Reverend Ann Waizeneker at 10am, before Councillor Ann Bridges, the Chairman of Adur District Council, lays a wreath at the Shoreham War Memorial in East Street at 11am.
Mrs Bridges will also lay a wreath at the War Memorial in South Street, Lancing, before a service at St Michael and All Angels Church, followed by a parade past civic dignitaries to take salute.
Mrs Bridges said: “I am extremely proud and honoured to represent the villages, towns and residents of Adur at this year’s remembrance service.
“Not only are we remembering the sacrifices of those that gave their lives in the great wars, but also to those and their families, who have served and continue to serve in conflicts and operations that continue today in Afghanistan and around the world.”
The Southwick branch of the Royal British Legion will lead events in the town, starting with a parade which will leave Southwick Square car park at 10.30am.
There will be a service at the War Memorial on Southwick Green at 11am, where Councillor James Butcher, Vice Chairman of Adur District Council, will lay a wreath.
