WORK has started today on an improved ramp on the Shoreham Beach side of Adur Ferry Bridge.

It will give better access from the houseboats on Riverbank and the western part of Shoreham Beach.

West Sussex County Council said the work was ‘a temporary fix’ until Adur District Council carries out the Lower Beach Road car park and Ferry Road regeneration project.

A spokesman said: “It comes after requests from the local community and will make it easier for people who approach the bridge from the western part of Shoreham Beach.

“There is already a ramp for people who approach the Shoreham Beach end from the east.”

Work is being carried out between 9am and 5pm each day and it is expected to take five days. Access to the bridge will not be affected while the ramp is being improved.

No date has yet been given for the regeneration scheme.
