A WORKSHOP is planned to discuss further action on isolation and loneliness in Steyning, Upper Beeding and Bramber.
Steyning Parish Council hosted an invitation-only event last month to discuss the issue.
Organiser Sue Rogers, a district and parish councillor, said: “Numerous ideas were contributed and a further workshop is now planned for later this month to discuss what further action can be taken.”
The event, held at the Steyning Centre on September 9, brought together representatives from various group and societies in the area, to hear speakers including Age UK Horsham chief executive Janice Leeming, community youth worker Emma Edwards and Debbie Wood, scheme manager at The Link Visitng Scheme in Upper Beeding.
Mrs Rogers said: “The event was predominantly to encourage the attendees to think about the issue and to share thoughts on projects and initiatives that could further address isolation that exists within our community for all ages.”
People who attended said it had been a very interesting meeting, highlighting the fact isolation and loneliness affected everybody, not just older people, and that some useful ideas had come out of the gathering.
