NO matter how miserable you are, the cast of Slapstix are bound to leave you with a stupid grin on your face.
It is one of those shows where there is something to entertain everyone, from old-fashioned circus acts to dance, but all with a modern and comic twist.

Be prepared to join in the fun, for the show on July 21 found the cast of circus performers, gymnasts and dancers out in the audience as the lights should have been going down.

We were showered with bits of paper while the strong man pretended to crack bones and plastic plate frisbees were thrown to unsuspecting spectators, who attempted (not very successfully) to throw them back.

The silliness spectacular included high-flying acrobatics, some amazing juggling and plate-spinning (which didn't always work, just proving how difficult it was), a contortionist, mime and plenty of clowning around, among many other acts.

I have to mention the strong man. No lifting of young women here. Imagine lifting the weight of a muscular man, using just one arm, while lying on the stage – and then standing up....

Sasha impressed as the miserable, vacant and scary eyed mime artist who suddenly transformed into a highly talented and bright-eyed ultimate wheel rider in the second half.

While the first half seemed a calm affair, the second half gathered momentum until it was suddenly over in a flash.

This was helped by the fact the biggest balloons I have ever seen were suddenly thrown out among us and we were almost too busy hitting them about like mad things to notice the final bows were being taken.

Great fun that brings out the child in you. Just what the doctor ordered.

The show's at Theatre Royal Brighton until July 26. Tickets are £14 to £24 from the box office on 08700 606650, groups hotline 08700 606 617, access bookings 0871 2975477 or click here
