LOVABLE Larkins will take to the stage in Littlehampton, and boisterous fun in spades is promised.
Stage-Door Theatre Company will present The Darling Buds of May, at The Windmill, from November 18 to 21.

Micki Darbyshire, who plays Lady Bluff-Gore in the production, said the show would be a "sparkling comedy" based on the irrepressible Larkin family, who live "somewhere in Kent".

"They made their first appearance in the novel, by HE Bates, in 1957, and went on to further delight and beguile audiences on stage and screen."

"Pop, played by David Williams, makes a fortune from a variety of deals, but never pays income tax.

"He lives in rural bliss with generous heated Ma (Fiona Humphrey) and their six children," she said.

When young tax official Mr Charlton (John Carroll) arrives to investigate the lack of tax returned, he is bewitched with eldest daughter Marriette, played by Harriet Roberts.

Micki added: "It's not long before he succumbs to the boisterous Larkin family charm and largesse. Will he ever leave? Come and see!"

The family was made popular by an ITV 1990s television series, with David Jason as Pop, Pam Ferris as Ma and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Marriette.

Harry Perry takes on the role of Montgomery, with Maddie Denby as Primrose, Chloe Retter as Petunia, Josephine Sutherland as Zinnia and Kirsty Ferris as Victoria.

Tickets, priced at £9, are available by calling the box office on 01903 722224.

Performances start at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinée at 2.30pm.
