WHEN Woolworths closed its doors in Lancing for the last time many people saw it as the end of an era.
The shop, which closed on Friday, January 2, is one of hundreds closing nationwide.

Mrs Shaw, of Fourth Avenue, Lancing, said: "I think it is quite sad, really.

"I feel sorry for the people that are losing their jobs, but people are just shopping online now."

Dead

Roderick Chalmers, of First Avenue, Lancing, said: "Lancing is a dead place already, but after Woolworths goes it will be absolutely terrible.

"This is the only shop you can come into and wander about.

"There's nothing else left."

Rita Laraway, of Elm Grove, Lancing, said: "It's a disaster.

"They changed it so much.

"They tried to do so much and it wasn't them.

"The worry now is what are we going to have in its place?"

Obsolete

However some residents felt Woolworths didn't offer anything that wasn't available elsewhere.

Kayleigh Jackson, of Southwick, said: "It doesn't really make much difference does it.

"You can get everything the same up at Tesco."

The Woolworths shops in Southwick Square and Shoreham High Street also closed last week.

What do you think?

How have you been affected by the Woolworths closures?

How do you think the High Street will change now that Woolworths has closed?
