MORE than 3,000 bottles of red wine and pink champagne, worth £32,000, were stolen in a burglary at Nutbourne Vineyards in West Chiltington this week.
The burglary took place between Monday (23 November) and 8am on Wednesday (25 November) at the vineyards in Gay Street.
Burglars forced their way through the entrance gates and into a storage barn, where specifically red wine and pink champagne were chosen.
Twenty cases (240 bottles) of French 'LAGASHE Rose Champagne' were stolen, and Nutbourne Vineyards is apparently the only importer of this particular pink champagne in the country.
The following quality red wine was also stolen:
110 cases (1,320 bottles) of LAGASHE Brute - red wine
77 cases (924 bottles) of Chateau Tour St Bonnet - red wine
60 cases (720 bottles) of Chateau La Barronne - red wine
40 cases (480 bottles of Chateau D'avigny - red wine
PC Lara Simpson said: "A large amount of wine and champagne has been stolen, which would have taken some time to load on to a vehicle or vehicles. Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 0845 60 70 999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
