A BAND of school friends with their eyes on the stars have set their sights on the Isle of Wight.
Alternative rock four-piece Space Age Hero only formed last August, yet the former King's Manor Community College friends have already played headline gigs at the Brighton Freebutt, released a debut EP, Nothing Left to Fear, and starred on a Croydon radio show.
The band comprise guitarist Josh Parsons, 16, lead singer and bass-player Jack Smith, 17, drummer Andy Gray, 17, and George Surry, 17, on lead guitar.
Josh said the band "clicked" after their first practice and have not looked back since.
Croydon's Nervecast radio described the band's sound as "a full mix of harmony riff and melodic sounds leaving you feeling truly entertained."
Josh said his ambition was to play the Isle of Wight festival, and he wasn't afraid of taking unconventional measures to try and achieve it.
"I'm actually planning on taking the band to the Isle of Wight and playing outside John Giddings' (Isle of Wight festival owner) house," said Josh.
The band recently played Shoreham's Beach Dreams festival and became firm crowd favourites when they were joined on stage by nine-year-old Caitlin King singing songs from television show Hannah Montana.
Upcoming shows include: Friday, July 10, Ropetackle Centre, Shoreham-by-Sea. Thursday, July 30, Concorde 2, Brighton. Saturday, August 22, Rudgwick Music Festival, Surrey.
