FIREFIGHTERS using heavy rescue equipment freed a driver trapped in his car after it crashed into a tree at Hammerpot last night (Wednesday, July 30, 2008).
The Renault Megane was travelling west along the A27 at about 10.20pm when it left the road, veered across the central reservation and the eastbound carriageway, before hitting the tree on a verge near the Woodman Arms pub.

Fire crews from Arundel, East Preston and Worthing released the injured 65-year-old motorist, who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Any one who witnessed the crash should telephone the road policing unit on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 2220 of July 30.
